Arizona School Requirements for Children's Vision

  • Arizona recommends (but does not require) a vision screening
  • Frequency: Children 9+ years old, all new students, all students receiving Special Education Services, and students recommended for screening by a parent, teacher, or other professional
No vision screening requirement.

Minimum recommended vision screenings for children ages 9 years old and younger for distance visual acuity, Stereopsis, and Color Deficiency (only if required by school district); Children age 10 years and older for distance visual acuity, near visual acuity (only where required); all new students; students receiving Special Education Services; and students referred by a parent, teacher, or other professional.
